The usual target for epoxy paints are basements and garages, since they take heavy traffic and need a paint that can endure it well. You can apply them on shop floors, concrete slabs, laundry room floors, brick pavers, interior floors, pole barns, kennels and trailers made out of wood. This coating can endure dirt, grease, water, oil and many other chemicals that would usually destroy other paint types in no time. It’s possible to do this due to tough resins that are mixed right when the application starts. It’s because of this they are the most efficient solution for your floors.
You can use three kinds of epoxy garage paint types. There aren’t any solvents that can evaporate in 100% solids, you need to know that. Number two are solvent based epoxies that penetrate and adhere quite well, but these are dangerous to health and you will have to vent your garage while you are applying them to the surface, due to heavy fumes. Finally, third type of paint is water bases and it does not have hazrdous fumes, is cheaper, a lot thinner with anti-slip texture. You will have to apply a lot of ventilation to dry these up.
You will have to clean your floor before applying the paint, use a hard bristled brush to remove all the debris and dirt, and do not forget to use some soapy water on the concrete to help you deal with the dirt. Get a degreaser and scrub it all over the floor so all the soluble contaminants can be rinsed with water. If the water you use to rinse the epoxy floor is not sticking on the floor, then the floor is completely clean. The garage floor should then be left overnight to dry. Wait for the morning and apply the first coating. A fantastic finishing coating will need two or three layers of paint. To get rid of those spills and paint drips, you need to have a clean rag made of cotton near you, as well as some epoxy thinner that will clean solvent based paints well.
Because this paint is durable, tough, has acid and salt resistence while having a clean finish, I have to choose it over the others. Before you allow any traffic on the surface, you will have to wait for some time for these to mature, since the proper preparation and application is needed.
