Taking Care Of Your Freezer

Freezers require care and maintenance for both efficiency and safety. Read the manual from the manufacturer of the appliance so you make sure you will use it properly and safely. Here are some important steps to take to help your upright freezer run at the highest efficiency possible:

Your new appliance should be in a room that is cool and dry, but the temperature should be above 40 F. Exactly this allows your appliance to work at the optimum capacity. Watch out for your heat sources in home and put freezer away from them. Don’t place your freezer in vicinity to a heating vent. You should place your freezer at the place that doesn’t get any sunlight during the day

When you put your freezer at the place you want it, be sure that it is leveled. Your doors will close and open properly at all time if you do this. When using an upright freezer, you may tilt the freezer slightly away from the front so that the door closes easily.

Clean the door seals regularly. One of the most important factors of keeping the cold temperature is the tight seal. To provide a safe work environment for your freezer, make sure it has adequate air circulation at all times. The heat generated by the freezer and the heat from inside must be dispersed by the appliance itself. If the circulation is limited, the freezer has to work harder to do this.

Keep your best freezer well stocked for greater efficiency. Filling your appliance at least 3/4 full is more efficient than an almost empty freezer. You should take care about defrosting your appliance, do not wait for more then 12 months to do it. You will have to do some defrosting if the freezer builds up more then half inch of frost.

You should always close the door, there is no need that they are opened longer then 10 seconds. Keeping a list of what foods are stored inside your freezer can help you decide what you want to remove before you open the door. Use pen and paper that are always near the appliance so you can track what you are taking or putting inside the unit.

These few guidelines are enough for you to keep your freezer running perfectly for a long time. You just have to stick to this and you won’t have any troubles at all.
