When I was asked to come to the Riverside Tax Office by the Deputy Tax manager, hardly was I aware that I would be ending up as a hero. But this recognition was not to rest on my head till I lived some deal of pain. I never actually believed getting a small thing done by state and local authorities could stretch over many painful hours as I somehow used to think getting work done there was just about a case of “Much Ado about Nothing!” On receiving a call from the local Tax Office of Riverside requesting me to arrive and collect my Tax refund cheque, barely I had a thought that it would be burdensome to get it collected even though they themselves had asked me to come over and pick it up. So here is the scene recreated for my readers – as I arrive at their office on Monday morning, I get to see there is a enormous line of people, all waiting to get their cheque in their hand!! Who doesn’t love money visiting them? Anyhow, amazingly, the line was dropping a good length out of the office premises into the side lawn. I knew I had a lengthy wait in store for me. My turn did finally come, after a grueling two and a half hours, only to understand that I would have to hang around for some more time as the bathroom faucet of the office washroom had become slack and declined to prevent the water flow. Because of this, floor was getting damp with water. Wow!! I just stood speculating what Riverside Plumbing had against me to have deferred my cheque!!! I started praying that God sends some Riverside Plumbers to get this sorted immediately. All of a sudden, it struck me! I can try dismantling the faucet washer and oil it to make it firm once more. Thus, I volunteered to have a go at it. I had the problem solved, in 5 minutes! I was so proud of myself. All tax officials thanked me copiously. They felt that I was a very proficient Riverside Plumber who came as their rescuer! Imagine!! Immediately, the cheque was handed over to me, and I was also treated with full royalty and coddling.
